WW2 ID'ed Purple Heart Grouping, 980th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Army Corps, Normandy/Ardennes/Rhineland/Central Europe
- Type: Slot Brooch
A very nice original WW2 ID'd Purple Heart Medal set. The set consists of Steele's ETO Identification Card, Purple Heart, Good Conduct and Masonic Knights Templar Medal. The medals are not engraved or numbered and come with a period original slot brooch mechanism. They remain in good condition. The group is ID'ed to Tec4 Sidney Lee Steele (34659543) whom served from 29th of June 1943 till 11th of December 1945 with the B Battery of the 980th Field Artillery Battalion of the 7th Army Corps. Steele served in the European Theater of War from the Normandy Campaign until the Ardennes, Rhineland and finally Central Europe Campaign. During his service Steele got wounded (most likely in 1944) resulting in the award of the Purple Heart. The Purple Heart already comes with some research but there is definitely more to find out about Steele's exact service and wounds. Excellent interesting ID'ed Purple Heart Group with lots of further research potential! No repairs, no damage.
