An original complete WW2 named cased Bronze Star medal. The medal comes in its original case of issue together with its ribbon bar and lapel pin. The medal comes with a slot brooch mechanism and its original ribbon, indicating production during WW2. The Bronze Star is hand engraved with "George J. Nardone".
Lt. Colonel George J Nardone, Medical Corps. Nardone was born July 11, 1913 in New York City. He enlisted in the New York National Guard in 1935, serving with the 102nd Medical Regiment, 104th Hospital. According to newspaper articles, he volunteered for service in the China-Burma-India Theater. For his service during WW2, he was presented this medal in an American Legion ceremony in 1947. He continued to serve with the medical corps in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving at the DiLorenzo Clinic in the Pentagon. During one of the conflicts, he was apparently wounded, as he also received a Purple Heart (location unknown). He retired from the Army with 33 years of service and passed away May 7, 2008. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
