An original complete WW2 numbered and researched cased Purple Heart medal. The medal comes in its original case of issue together with its ribbon bar and lapel pin. The medal, ribbon bar, lapel pin and case all remain in excellent condition. The medal comes with a slot brooch mechanism, and is numbered on the right rim with "451652" indicating the Purple Heart was produced in 1942 by the Robbins Company. The number on the Purple Heart is researched and was traced back to "Black" Private First Class Willie Lee Williams (33169165) member of Company B, 365th Infantry Regiment, 92nd Infantry Division. Williams received his Purple Heart for being wounded in combat on February 8, 1945 during the attempted crossing of the Serchio River south of Pisa, Italy. Williams got wounded due to artillery fragments in his leg and hand. Very nice historical researched set in excellent condition! No repairs, no damage.
