Curry served in Company A of the 163rd Infantry Regiment (also known as the 163rd Regimental Combat Team), 41st Infantry Division. Curry received the Bronze Star for actions during the landing and battle for Wakde Island, Dutch New Guinea on or about the 15th of May 1944 around which time Curry also got wounded as he got shot in the thigh. The Bronze Star award certificate was awarded on the 25th of March 1965. The award certificate remains in a very good condition as can be seen on the photos. No repairs, no damage.
