A very rare original complete WW2 cased Medal of Freedom. The medal comes in its original 1950s blue lucite case of issue together with its ribbon bar and lapel pin. The medal comes with a slot brooch mechanism and its original ribbon, indicating production during WW2. Great rare set in great condition. Very hard to find medal! No repairs, no damage.

 

The Medal of Freedom was a decoration established by President Harry S. Truman to honor civilians whose actions aided in the war efforts of the United States and its allies during and beyond World War II. It was the second highest civil award at the time. It was first awarded in 1945 and around 20.000 were awarded in total.
